Yosemite with the Canon 7d

Things that I found out, 430 pictures taken in large RAW and JPEG and a minute HD video with fill a 16 gig card.

Perhaps I need to being a laptop with me so I can see how the full sized image looks and to get the light settings right. I'm still working on my light, some of my pictures are coming out a bit over exposed, only one way to make that right, practice. Here are some shots I took yesterday.

Sorry to all my buddies in Snow Country

I should be studying or having car washes to support my trip to DC but instead we went to the beach with the Dog, pictures can be found here. The last few days have been bright and sunny, no great plans this weekend, just cleaning up the house (endless job) and studying, maybe doing some work on the beast. Great day, I'm bushed and have no thoughts on any news that's going on in the world. Just have a good weekend and enjoy the people who share your life.

Coronado's Dog Beach

We checked out the Dog Beach next to the navy base in Coronado. It was balmy 72 degrees out and the water was great, not that Gatsby noticed, he was just happy to be at the beach. The beach is right down the way from Hotel Del Coronado as the pictures here show. The directions are, drive to the Hotel Del Coronado, turn right towards the beach, follow the road till you get to the gate to the Navy base and park there.

Del Mar’s Dog Beach

Today we discovered a new dog beach in Del Mar, I’m probably letting out a big secret but the way you get down there is turn off of the 5 freeway on Via de la Valle road toward the ocean, keep going till you hit Camino Del Mar and make a left and the beach is on the right hand side a few hundred feet after the turn. There’s parking right there but it’s 2 bucks an hour and that’s craziness. So instead drive across the bridge and park on the side of the road where it’s free. There’s two reasons for do this, one it’s free and the other is that it will give your dog a chance to dry off before getting in your car.

Of course being the photo geek that I am, I’ve posted pictures on my fotopage. Nice beach, Gatsby had a great time and it’s tremendously funny watching him jump off rocks only to find out the water on the other side was deep. Heh.

Dog Beach!

What a cool idea, a beach where you can take your dog and let him or her run free. San Diego has it’s own Dog Beach at the end of Ocean Beach. We did a trip down there today and let Gatsby run free.

Of course you know how I am with new mediums, here’s the video and here are the pictures.

Dodger Dog

My wife’s best friend passed away this past fall and this is a video clip I took of him last Christmas when we had Christmas dinner with her family, great dog even though he didn’t get along with trains or me kissing his girl.

Still unpacking boxes into our new place, Christmas tree was the first thing to go up and internet put in. There are many many books that are looking for homes, eventually they will be up in order along with most everything else.

From my family to yours I wish you all Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Took the dog to the beach

for the first time, I love this picture of my wife, she calls it her viking picture.

Moving into our new place and still unloading boxes, I didn’t realize that I had 10 thousand pounds of stuff. Books, tool box, fridge and washer and dryer do add up, sheesh, I need to trade some books in.

New family member

My wife and I woke this morning and drove up to the PetSmart store up in Lake Elsinore to take a look at a wire hair fox terrier mix mutt who we saw online and once we met him the rest was history. We’ve spent most of the day inviting Gatsby into our family and seeing how he would handle life in general.

Stats, he’s a ear and a half old, right at 25 pounds, looks like the dragon from the movie the never ending story, likes to kiss and hug and the only sounds I’ve heard so far is a light snoring and panting, not a bark.

Took him for a walk tonight around the block to look at the Christmas decorations with one of those 30 foot wind up leashes. Now I know what they mean by keeping a dog in a short leash, some guy down the street is going to be pissed when he comes outside in the morning. Gatsby’s leash caused a swath of destruction across a nicely set up yard full of Christmas stuff (this is where I found out that he’s also a good smooth running partner), this is a dog after my own heart, welcome to the family Gatsby!

Pictures of our day can be found here (no, none of that yard).
